The Municipality of Pleven covers the middle part of the Danube hilly plain. The city of Pleven is located 170 km away from the capital city Sofia, 320 km away from the Black Sea coast, 30 km away from the Danube River, 130 km away from the Danube Bridge, and about 70 km away from the Balkan Range. The Pleven Municipality covers 18.74% of Pleven District and 0.73% of the territory of Bulgaria. The Municipality has a built up and well maintained infrastructure. More than BGN 320 million has been invested in infrastructure. The city of Pleven has central heating, which is supplied by Pleven power plant. Nevertheless, the implementation of the project for gasification of Mizia area. 183 industrial, 343 public-administrative and 22,875 residential users will be converted to natural gas up to 2009. A park is located in the immediate vicinity of the city of Pleven, southward by the Tuchenishka River valley; the park has been designed by Arch. Tiholov. The remains of the Storgozia Roman travel station and the historical Totlebenov Val, which is now a well reinforced small dam lake, are located in the same area. Chernelka natural sight is about 7 km away, between Gortalovo and Kurtozhabene villages where the Chernelka River has formed a canyon, which is 60 to 200 m wide and the height of the rock wreath in it is from 10 to 30 m. The exceptional wealth of rock formations, the specific ornitho-fauna and the diverse flora are the reasons why in 1969 the area was pronounced a natural sight. Besides the wealth of natural sights Chernelka has also a rich historical past: late-ancient and medieval fortresses, an early-Christian rock monastery, Provartenika well and others.
